Our laser upgrade kits are versatile tools that can be used for many projects and applications. It is very good at carving objects like wood and can even cut thin materials like plastic and balsa.
The laser can be focused to a very small point, which can give it the opportunity to engrave and mark very small fonts and logos or pictures with very fine detail. Due to the small spot size, some other diode laser etchers do not exhibit a noticeable "rectangular" anomaly.
Engraving on Wood
Engraving on wood is easy with the Atomstack A5 M40 Laser. The more power you have, the faster you can sculpt. Different types of wood will carve different shades. Texture also affects the color of the sculpt.
Engraving on Slate, Granite, and Stone
Carves well on dark stone, granite and slate and leaves a permanent white finish on the product.
Cutting Wood and Veneers
Cutting thin plywood and veneer is possible, but sometimes slow. The best way is to slow down and use multiple passes. Items that are difficult to cut with a router are easily cut with a laser, such as mother-of-pearl. Getting a higher power laser and adding an air assist option will result in better cutting capabilities.
