The Atomstack A5 Pro Laser Engraver is a mid-priced home device. The machine is powerful enough to accurately cut certain materials such as foam rubber or cardboard. However, the often relatively small work surface is a well-known problem with such entry-level devices.
Atomstack A5 Pro adopts a newly upgraded ultra-fine compressed laser focus area, narrowed down to 0.23mm^2, to boost the performance of this engraving machine. In addition, the laser is also equipped with focusing technology, and has both precision engraving and high-energy cutting functions. As a high-density laser, the A5 Pro engraver can easily cut 15mm thick wood, 12mm black acrylic, and can clearly engrave ceramic and mirror stainless steel metal.
The laser power of the fixed-focus laser on this engraving machine is more stable than that of the zoom laser. The large engraving area interval of 410 x 400mm can meet your various engraving needs and is the most preferred by most users.
Atomstack A5 Pro engraving machine is compatible with various mature engraving software such as LaserGRBL and LightBurn. Supported Windows include; XP, 7, 8, 10 (LaserGRBL), also supports Mac system (LightBurn, need to pay). The supported engraving file formats are; NC, BMP, JPG, PNG, DXF, etc. As a 40W laser cutting and engraving machine, A5 Pro can meet your daily needs, it can print on paper, bamboo, wood, plastic, leather PCB board, aluminum oxide, and soon.
Even an inexperienced layman can set it up in about 20 minutes. Preparing the A5 Pro is simple. Just position the workpiece and the laser. Then simply select the starting point in the software and send the code to the laser. Finally, according to the set speed and intensity, the selected pattern is cut or engraved.
Straps are tensioned and secured to the end of the profile using screws and slot nuts. The belt sits in the upper groove and is guided by V-groove rollers. So the motor moves with the shaft and drives with it. Simple, efficient and very precise. The same structure also occurs on the X-axis of the laser carriage.
The most important part is the interval scale. By scanning vertically and horizontally at different step sizes, we can estimate the laser spot size. From the results, we can see that the laser spot of the Atomstack A5 Pro is more or less rectangular, as the pattern looks the same when scanned horizontally (X-axis) and vertically (Y-axis).
The text engraving is done at 600 mm/s, which is quite fast for such a small movement, so some wiggle of the laser head can be seen in the corners. This can easily be avoided by reducing the acceleration and velocity in the settings. It should only be used with suitable safety glasses designed for laser use. Likewise, this equipment should not be operated in closed rooms that are not equipped with suitable air filtration and extraction and fire extinguishing equipment.
The Atom Stack A5 Pro 40W laser engraving machine has its pros and cons, but it's attractively priced and definitely recommendable for beginners looking to upgrade their hobby workshop with a laser engraver for little money.
